Together, we are shaping an innovative, diverse, and sustainable society hands-on. We overcome obstacles and enable startups and corporates to learn continuously, regardless of their prerequisites. In doing so, we create measurable success in the ecosystem outside international metropolises.

About the SpinLab Group

Five entities work together in different areas to help startups and corporates flourish. The SpinLab ecosystem features distinct players in Germany, all focusing on different areas but working together to bring innovation, startups, and corporate partners to the next level.

SpinLab - The Startup Accelerator

SpinLab – The HHL Accelerator supports innovative founding projects with the implementation and growth of their ventures. In addition to intensive coaching, the founding teams will benefit from a high-caliber mentoring program and numerous contacts with investors, established companies, and other founders.

The Startup Accelerator was founded in November 2014 by Dr. Eric Weber as an initiative together with the Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei, the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management, and MIB AG and is considered one of the best accelerators in Europe.

RootCamp - The Agrifood & Bioeconomy Innovation Hub

RootCamp is an AgriFood and Bioeconomy innovation hub that has been disrupting the AgTech value chain since 2020. RootCamp's mission is to bridge the innovation gaps between impact-driven startups and corporates by providing financing, expertise, and network.

We offer an acceleration program to startups to reach investor readiness. We connect startups and corporates to catalyze economically viable pilot projects. We foster the growth of ecosystems through dedicated projects and assist corporate innovation and venture clienting.

EXCITELAB - THE HIGH-TECH ACCELERATOR

ExciteLab is a high-tech accelerator in Dresden, established in collaboration with the Technische Universität Dresden (TUD), the TU Dresden Aktiengesellschaft (TUDAG), and SpinLab – The HHL Accelerator in 2024. ExciteLab supports high-tech startups in IoT, semiconductors, robotics, sensor technology, and quantum technology through a six-month accelerator program. To establish Dresden as a leading European metropolis for high-tech startups, ExciteLab offers comprehensive individual support through coaches and mentors.

Bitroad - Innovation & Digitization

Bitroad - A SpinLab Company shapes the future for its partners along with innovation, digitalization, and IT transformation. The Bitroad innovation ecosystem of founders, investors, and transformation experts combines methods and knowledge for the successful implementation of ambitious and forward-looking projects. Partners benefit from speed and flexibility in strategy development and implementation, based on pragmatic maturity checks and hybrid implementation methods.

Smart Infrastructure Ventures - The VC fund

Smart Infrastructure Ventures is a heterogeneous group of successful entrepreneurs, founders & and investors. They are supported by a like-minded international network of advisors, corporate partners & and co-investors.

Smart Infrastructure Hub - The focus of a city

The Smart Infrastructure Hub (SIH) links many players and projects in the fields of energy, smart cities, eHealth, and cross-sectional technologies. A regional hub agency links and moderates between those actors, building a strong network that is open for new partners and projects as well.

SpinLab is an essential core element of the Smart Infrastructure Hub, which has been part of the de:hub initiative since 2018. The de:hub initiative is a program funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) to connect SMEs and corporations with new innovation partners from science and the start-up scene.

Since 2022, SpinLab is part of the European Digital Innovation Hub Saxony (EDIH). The EDIH Saxony supports small and medium-sized enterprises, startups as well as public administration with the introduction of digital technologies such as the Internet of Things, Big Data, or 5G connectivity.
